Brick walls, walking in the dark and Batman capes.

23 February, 2016

Hi my dear friends :)

Today is another 'let's just be reallllll honest, lay it all on the table and share exactly what I am going through in the hope it can help you too!' blog! :) So lately I have stuck in a number of areas. And not just a little bit stuck, I'm talking 'standing against a giant brick wall with NO way around and NO way forward' stuck. Perhaps you're also feeling you're up against a brick wall? Maybe it's the same one and we should have a brick wall smashing party? Or maybe you're not at the moment, but one day this might help. :)

Often we can look at resistance as a sign to give up, which sometimes it is, BUT... when you have that thing in your gut telling you "nooooooo, don't give up yet", you know you just have to keep going. Even if you have NO idea how.

To be really honest with you, this is how I have been feeling with my Dreams Mentoring Program. I know, that I know, that I know in my gut that it WILL be launched, and it WILL help many many mannnnnny people dream BIG and live the life of joy and adventure they were created for, howeverrrr... everyday I am faced with something on my list (including something massive this past month) that makes me ask, "how the heck is this EVER going to work?"

Hence the brick wall.

I feel like I am standing in front this huge wall, holding all these pages I have written to bring hope and joy and adventure to people's lives, but with no way forward. Can you relate? Maybe there's an area (or many!) in your life where you've tried and you've tried, but you just can't get ahead.

Well, despite the walls and the roadblocks... I do believe with all my heart that God IS leading us. So take a breath and read this promise.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8 NLT)

Another version says: "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. So often it literally feels like we're walking in the dark. Like feeling our way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, we know the destination, but sometimes we stumble because it's dark. We're following our hearts, but we can't quite see the road ahead. But this is what faith is friends. It's being SURE of what we hope for and CERTAIN of the things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 NIV) So as we stand in front of our brick walls, or walk in the dark with NO idea what the heck we are doing, we can be sure that our faithful God IS holding our hand and guiding us every step of the way.

"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight." (Prov 3:5-6 NIV)

He lights our path. We just have to take the step. NO ONE can do what you have been created to do. The ideas in you are going to change this world. So, as your friend and cheerleader... I'm asking you, shall we do this together? Shall we move foward boldly in our dreams, despite facing crazy brick walls and walking completely in the dark? Shall we take a step today?

Yes?! Great answer. :) SO. Since we're keepin' it real, I wanted to share a few of the things I am doing at the moment to move forward despite these cray cray roadblocks and limitations!

1. Be alert.
I shared a little bit in my latest mentoring video about the difference between moving forward in 'fear and stress' versus 'joy and peace' (You can CLICK HERE to watch it). Resistance is fine as long as there is no fear and striving attached. Be alert and check how you're feeling. His peace always leads us. "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands!" (Isaiah 55:12 NIV)

2. Sow a seed and just do something.
You may not know how the WHOLE project/dream/idea is going to play out, but there is always something you can do. Do the thing you know how to do. I may be stuck getting all the technical stuff of my mentoring program up and running, but I DO now how to write. Yes ma'am. So everyday, I write. Despite feeling discouarged and frustrated by soooo many other things, you can be darn sure there is time allocated in my diary every day to write.

3. Ask for help.
Yesterday I wrote in my journal, "Jesus, please help?!" So simple. But he sees our hearts and hears our every cry anyway. God's not after technical prayers. We're his kids, and kids don't have to use many words to ask for help! Usually they just scream out the parent's name over and over! So let's take a leaf out of their book. Also, whether it's a financial, technical, health, family thing you're stuck with... ask around to see if anyone knows anyone who's walked something similar. And you know what? He did help. I asked for encouragement, and I got it, in a few different ways and better than I expected.

4. Think outside the box.
We always want everything to be the best of the best of the best. Well, sometimes near enough can be good enough. This has taken lots of pressure off me, because although I have high expectations, I am realising there ARE other simpler ways to do things. Stop thinking about "that way" and ask yourself, if I had to get creative and do this another way, how would I do it?

5. Keep going.
Even if you move 1mm per day, just keep going. Every single step you take is getting you closer to your dream, so don't give up! "Let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for IN DUE TIME and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faith!" (Gal 6:9 AMPC) My sister in law is about to have a baby. I'm sure for her it 'feels' like the baby is never going to come, but let me tell you, there is an appointed date and time that precious little baby will come into the world. Its little life has been planned before God said "let there be light," and so has your dream. So don't give up.

6. Put on your Batman cape.
Yesterday I saw a little boy, about 18 months old, wearing a Batman cape with tee shirt saying "Somebody has to be Batman." I just smiled as I knew that was to encourage me! Then in my lunchbreak I was in a cafe writing, when a 3 year old boy walks through the cafe wearing a Batman cape. What the HECK!? Two in the space of 5 hours?! Anyway, it reminded me of everything I believe and what I alwayyyyyyys say: Kids dream BIG because they have NO fear. They don't worry about brick walls. They just put on their Batman cape and tell everyone, "don't worry because I'm saving the world!"

We ARE literally saving the world. This world desperately needs hope and joy, and we have it to give. Jesus came to give us LIFE and life in ABUNDANCE! So let's access this abundance and keep moving forward hey? YOU are amazing and if no one has told you this week, you're doing a really great job.

Love you and am CHEERING US ALL ON.
